Ridge 45W GaN Charger Review: Compact Laptop-Grade Power with Two USB-C Ports
The Ridge 45W Charger is designed for users who want a compact charging solution that can handle more than one device at a time. With 45W GaN technology, dual USB-C ports, smart power distribution, and two included braided USB-C cables, this charger combines portability with practical everyday charging flexibility.
Finished in Matte Olive, the charger also has a distinctive look compared with conventional power adapters.
45W GaN Power in a Compact Design
The Ridge charger delivers up to 45W of power using GaN technology. According to the product listing, the charger weighs just 85.7 grams and is approximately 40% smaller than traditional chargers.
The compact design can be especially useful for people who travel frequently or want to minimize the amount of space occupied by chargers in a laptop bag, backpack, or desk setup.
Despite its smaller footprint, the charger is designed to provide laptop-grade power for compatible devices.
Two USB-C Ports for Simultaneous Charging
One of the key features is the inclusion of two USB-C ports. Instead of choosing which device gets charged first, you can connect two compatible devices simultaneously.
The listed power distribution provides up to 25W + 20W across the two ports. This makes it practical for charging combinations such as a laptop and smartphone, depending on their individual power requirements.
For users who regularly carry multiple USB-C devices, having two ports on a single adapter can help reduce the number of chargers needed.
Complete Cable Kit Included
A particularly convenient part of the package is that the charger comes with two braided USB-C cables.
The kit includes:
1-meter USB-C cable for closer connections and desktop setups
2-meter USB-C cable for greater reach when an outlet is farther away
Having both lengths available means you don't necessarily have to purchase additional cables separately. The shorter cable can work well at a desk, while the longer cable provides extra flexibility in rooms where the power outlet isn't nearby.
GaN Technology for Travel-Friendly Charging
GaN, or gallium nitride, technology allows compatible chargers to deliver substantial power from a relatively compact design.
For the Ridge charger, this means 45W output in an 85.7g package. The smaller and lighter design can be particularly useful for travelers, students, remote workers, and anyone who carries multiple devices throughout the day.
Instead of packing separate bulky adapters, users can potentially consolidate charging around one dual-port USB-C charger.
Useful for Multiple Devices
The Ridge 45W charger is designed for a variety of USB-C charging setups. Depending on device requirements, it can be useful for combinations such as:
Laptop + smartphone
Tablet + smartphone
Smartphone + wireless earbuds
Tablet + other USB-C accessory
Other compatible USB-C devices
The dual-port configuration is particularly useful when several devices need power at the same time.
Designed for Everyday Convenience
The combination of a lightweight charger, two USB-C ports, and two different cable lengths makes this a practical accessory for everyday use.
At home, it can help simplify a desk charging setup. At work, it can power multiple devices from one outlet. While traveling, the compact size and included cables can reduce the amount of equipment you need to pack.
Lifetime Warranty
The product listing states that Ridge backs the charger with a lifetime warranty. This provides additional long-term support for buyers, subject to the manufacturer's applicable warranty terms and conditions.
A lifetime warranty can be an appealing feature for a charger that is intended to remain part of your everyday technology setup for years.
